As expected, the party&#8217;s Chief Secretary and Chinese President Xi Jinping secured his third term as the party\u2019s top leader for another five years. Find the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/globalvoices.org\/2022\/10\/21\/explaining-the-20th-congress-of-the-communist-party-of-china-jiangshan\/\">first article here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, rather shockingly, his colleagues and experienced top officials, including&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Li_Keqiang\">Li Keqiang<\/a>, outgoing Premier,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wang_Yang_(politician)\">Wang Yang<\/a>, outgoing chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People\u2019s Political Consultative Conference, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Li_Zhanshu\">Li Zhanshu<\/a>, outgoing chairman of the National People\u2019s Congress, have vanished from the 204-member list of the Central Committee. The six incoming men in the new Politburo Standing Committee are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/chinas-communist-party-politburo-standing-committee-unveiled-2022-10-23\/\">all Xi\u2019s loyalists<\/a>.
