A Chinese-backed contractor is facing an investigation after the collapse of a 33-story skyscraper in Bangkok during the earthquake on Friday. When a magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred in central Myanmar, about 1,300 kilometers from the capital of Thailand, the glass facade of the unfinished building fell to the ground in a pile of smoke and dust, and dozens of people were trapped in the ruins. However, despite the cranes dotted on the skyline of this megacity, no other construction site has reported a similar collapse. So far, eight bodies have been found from the ruins of skyscrapers, and it is estimated that 50 more people are missing. In Myanmar, large-scale destruction has occurred, and the death toll has exceeded 1,600.
